BC Wine Reviews

A fresh look at the Wines of BC with Sommelier and Chef Jay Drysdale.
Thornhaven Estate Winery

Another sleeper of winery that has flown under the radar for years picking up a stock pile of awards yet most people are not aware of their wines.

Gewurztraminer 2007

$18

Sitting in a field of wild flowers over dosing on Lychee nuts.  This wine is a thrill to smell.  Intense aromatics lead to a soft and almost flabby palate that makes this wine a little too easy to drink.  Floral can be a tough one to pair with because it can create too much going on between the food and the wine.  I say stick with simple food items with simple flavours and easy textures.  A good inexpensive brie cheese should do the trick.
