What a picturesque setting with the pond, the gardens and the old barn for a tasting room. You could spend an afternoon just getting accustomed to the "Island life".

Aromata 2008 |

A blend of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Auxerios, Bacchus, and a touch of Petite Milo, this aromatics comes across quite shy. Once worked out of its shell it delivers a balanced palate with soft citrus flavours. A tad overpriced but a nice summer sipper. Avoid heavy flavoured foods, spice, and sugar or they may over power the wines presence. |

Dark ripe blueberry and blackberry compete with the oak on the nose. Good flavours on the front of your palate but disappears to quickly with an oaky finish. The wine is pretty young and built for ageing as the tannins are quite gritty as well. This is Oliver\Osoyoos fruit. Food will tame the roughness and bring some polish to the tannins. Try with a traditional cassoulet or even a grilled strip-loin. Watch out for spicy foods as they will excentuate the oaky finish and bring out the alcohol. |

Cabernet Libre 2006 $24 A Swiss grape breeder, Valentin Blattner has crossed Cabernet Sauvignon and Marichal Foch to create cabernet libre. Big bright strawberry and plum with notes of ruhbarb and earth. The palate carried a sour cherry note but cabernet characteristics were certainly dominant. The island acidity came through but overall a well made wine. I am excited to see what this grape will do in the future. Only 50 cases made so taste it while you can. Apple Pie 2007 - 375ml $23 The name says it all, this is apple pie in a glass. You can smell the spices, the pie crust, its truly amazing. The palate offers up balanced sugar and acidity to create a very easy drinking style of dessert wine. You'll love the long lingering finish. All you need to serve this wine with is some properly aged cheddar. Score Visual 3/3 Nose 12/14 Palate 20/27 Overall

Blackberry Port 2007 - 375ml $23 Nice intensity of dark ripe blackberries with hints of smoke and even a touch of mint. The flavours start off soft and then build a huge burst of flavour on the back of the palate. The intensity almost gives the impression it is hot, but its actually the concentration of flavour. Another perfect wine for cheese at the end of the meal. DO NOT SERVE THIS WITH CHOCOLATE, as they did in the tasting room. This wine gives up the wrong components to pair properly with chocolate and comes across metallic and bitter. Otherwise a great wine made from local berries. I look forward to tasting their sparkling wine named "Karma".
They also produce a Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir, Pinot Noir Reserve, and a Millotage which I didn't get to try on this trip.
