After triple decanting for both sediment and aeration, the wine began to show its complexity. Layers of liquorice and spice with red and black fruits on the nose. Consistent flavours on the palate with silky fine persistent tannins and a very long finish. Well built and excellent complexity for a merlot. The power and complexity of this wine open it up to a range of foods. The intense fruit steers me towards earthy foods with sophisticated fats like rib eye or duck. |
