Chardonnay 2008

$??

Just bottled and resting until the fall wine festival for release. A subtle complexity greets you with citrus, vanilla and nutty flavours.  The richness of the body gives the impression of a heavily oaked wine, but quickly dissipates to a light and long finish full of grapefruit and lime.  Great oiliness to the texture and looking forward to this wine coming together over the next two to four years.  Well done.  I'm reaching for grilled chicken and salad with a caramelized shallot vinaigrette. 290 cases. Syrah 2007

$29

Mushroom, black and blueberries, and forest floor impress me out of the gate.  The palate has a burst of hard candy that continues all the way through with notes of sausage and liquorish as well.  The palate is smooth and the tannins are soft.  Love the finish.  I would keep up the earthy tones with a grilled pork loin brined in garlic and rosemary and then finished with a squeeze of lemon to help tighten the wines flavours mid palate.  Tasted Aug 29th/09
